Previously, only a few convictions could be cleared from a person's record ("expunged"). In the 2019 Legislative Session, the Mississippi Legislature passed a criminal justice reform bill that allows for a judge to remove nearly any nonviolent felony from a person's record.
If a person qualifies to have their record cleared under the new Mississippi law, we'll gather the necessary court documents, prepare and file a petition with the court, and have a hearing set with the judge. Once the judge signs off on the expungement, copies of the expungement will be sent to officials in charge of maintaining criminal records (the FBI, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, the local sheriff, the circuit clerk's office, etc.) and those officials will remove all public record of the conviction.
If you think you or a loved one might qualify to have their record cleared, contact us immediately so we can analyze the situation, gather documents, and if possible file the proper paperwork with the court to have the judge clear your record.
THERE IS NO FEE TO SEE IF YOU QUALIFY.
